Matt Poole is a seasoned Ironman veteran, RedBull athlete, and Australian fitness icon. Raised on the sands of Dee Why Beach, NSW, Matt began Surf Life Saving at just five years old. As the oldest competitor in the 2021/22 Nutri-Grain Series, he recently announced his retirement from competitive racing. Now, Matt is excited to embark on the next chapter of his career as a commentator for the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf. With experience coaching at Talle Surf Sports Nippers and Mermaid Surf Club, he's passionate about inspiring young athletes and encouraging Australians to embrace an active, healthy lifestyle. 

Now based on the Gold Coast, Matt is also a co-owner of the thriving alcohol brand, Gravity Seltzers. As a proud first-time dad, he can often be found enjoying life with his daughter, Posy, whether it's at the beach, cooking at home, or soaking up the Queensland sun.
